Four imported cases of coronavirus reported in Shanghai

Four imported coronavirus cases, all arriving in the city from Italy, were reported on Saturday morning, said the Shanghai Health Commission.

Meanwhile, the city ruled out 15 suspected cases.

Among the newly diagnosed cases, one is an Italian and works and lives in Shanghai. The Italian left Turin on March 10 and arrived at Pudong airport the next day via Paris and was placed down quarantine upon arrival.

The other three are all Zhejiang Province natives who work and live in Italy.  One of them left Bologna on March 11, arrived at the Pudong airport the next day via Moscow and was quarantined upon arrival. The rest two left Milan on March 11, arrived at Pudong airport the next day via Moscow and were quarantined upon arrival.

So far, the city has reported 350 cases. Among all confirmed patients, aged between 7 months and 88 years old, 145 have traveled or lived in Hubei Province, 34 have traveled or lived in other Chinese cities, 159 had contact history with infected persons, four have lived in Iran, seven in Italy and one in the US.

A total of 111 patients are from other Chinese cities, 12 are from overseas and 227 are local residents, referring to those with registered residency and people staying in the city for over six months.

According to the local health commission, there are still 23 patients being treated at hospitals. Among them, 14 are stable, one is serious and eight are in critical condition. A total of 324 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

There have been three local fatalities so far.

Another 26 suspected cases, including 12 from overseas, are undergoing tests, the commission said.
